FINAL RESULTS (Trackwrestling)

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's wrestling team competed today at the Builder Invitational, hosted by the Apprentice School at Apprentice Athletic Center. The Panthers amassed 158.5 points en route to winning the team title in a field of 15 teams.

THE BASICS
Ferrum outdistanced runner-up and tournament host Apprentice School (144.5 pts) and Davis & Elkins College (88.5). Two Ferrum wrestlers won individual titles, Josiah Canales Maldonado (133 lbs) and Andres Cortes (157). Both men went 4-0 on the day with a pin and a tech fall. In the finals, he Canales Maldonado pinned Marymount's Dylan Coward in a time of 3:54. Cortes beat High Point University's Christian Fojon by a 16-10 decision in the title bout.

Posting 2nd-place finishes were Isaac Dodd (141), Noah Harris (197) and Braeden Fluke (285). Making his debut with the Panthers, Dodd posted a tech fall, a poin and a decision en route to the finals. Harris posted three pins to earn a spot in the finals. Fluke had two pins en route to his finals appearance.

Finishing third were Riley Conway (125), Cameron Curva (149), Robert Owens Jr. (165), Hunter Thompson (174) and Joseph Toner (184). Fourth-place finishes were turned in by Hayden Thompson (149) and Blake McCarty (157), while Braden Crawford (141) finished fifth.
