FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team earned a Conference Carolinas win over Southern Wesleyan University, winning 92-85 this afternoon at Swartz Gym. The win is Ferrum's sixth straight, dating back to January 17.

THE BASICS
The Panthers jumped out to a 9-2 lead early on, only to see Southern Wesleyan battle back to make a 15-12 game five minutes in. Ferrum went on a 16-6 run over the next six minutes to extend the lead to 13 points at 31-18 with 9:10 left in the first half.

Ferrum widened the lead to 20 points twice in the second half, on
Gerren Jones' layup at 12:17 to make it 67-47 and again on
Alfredo Abel-Rivera's layup 50 seconds later to make it a 69-49 game.Â
Southern Wesleyan chipped away at the lead, getting is down to five points on two Malachi Cooper free throws that made it 90-85 with 33 seconds left in regulation. Jones was fouled on the next possession and sank two free throws for the final count.
