Young Harris, Ga. – The Young Harris Mountain Lions held off a late push from the Ferrum Panthers to claim a 72–62 victory Saturday afternoon at the The Harp Recreation & Commencement Center in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action. Ferrum was led by
Taryn Blankenship's 12 points, while
Breyana Kimmons and
Maslyn Mosbacher added 10 points each.

THE BASICS
Young Harris set the tone early, jumping out to a 16–6 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 39–21 at halftime. The Mountain Lions shot 60 percent from the floor in the second quarter and connected on four three-pointers to build a 20-point cushion.
Ferrum responded with a strong third quarter, shooting 60 percent and outscoring Young Harris 25–14 to cut the deficit to 53–46 heading into the final period.
The Panthers trimmed the margin to four points midway through the fourth quarter, but Young Harris answered with key baskets from Kamryn Bates and Chassidy Fedd. The Mountain Lions went 9-of-13 from the stripe in the final quarter to seal the win.
Young Harris finished the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc, while forcing 14 Ferrum turnovers that led to 19 points. The Mountain Lions also held a 30–29 edge on the boards and received 11 points from the bench.
