PEMBROKE, N.C. -- Ferrum College dropped a Conference Carolinas men's wrestling match to UNC Pembroke tonight on the road, falling 43-6 at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

THE BASICS
The match began with the 157-pound weight class, where
Andres Cortes dropped a 9-4 decision to UNC Pembroke's Tyler Nelson. The Braves picked up a tech fall at 165 pounds, then earned a forfeit at 174 to increase the lead to 14-0. Pembroke then picked up four consecutive tech falls at 184, 197, 285 and 125 to widen the gap to 34-0.
Josiah Canales Maldonado broke the ice with a pin over Samuel Hutchinson at 133 pounds, stopping the match at the 5:35 mark. Canales trailed 9-2, then rallied to tie the match at 9-9 before posting the fall to make the team score 34-6. The Braves accepted a forfeit at 141 pounds, then won a decision at 149 pounds for the final score.
