FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College led early, then hung on for a non-conference women's flag football win at home over Gallaudet University, winning 13-12 this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
After a scoreless opening quarter, Ferrum broke through in the second when
Payson Shreeve found a wide open
Zy'Breayziah Alexander. Alexander lateraled the ball to
Macy Taylor, who raced over half the length of the field for a touchdown to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead.
Ferrum added to its its side the of the the scoreboard late the second quarter when the defense came up with a crucial play, converting a turnover into points. Taylor converted a one-yard rush for her second score of the day with 55 seconds left in the quarter, and the ensuing PAT attempt was good, to give Ferrum a 13-0 lead at the break.
Gallaudet responded in the third quarter with a sustained scoring drive to cut the deficit to 13-6, then added another touchdown early in the fourth quarter to pull within a point. Ferrum's defense held firm down the stretch, preserving the win.
