Devan Sproles joined the Ferrum football coaching staff in the summer of 2016 and serves as defensive line coach. He came to Ferrum after serving as assistant football coach and assistant wrestling coach at John S. Battle High School for two years. He also served four years as Recreation Assistant for the town of Abingdon, Virginia.

Sproles was a four-year starter at linebacker for Emory & Henry College. He was an ODAC first team All-Conference selection in 2011 and the Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year. He was a finalist for the Richmond Touchdown Club’s 2011 Lanier Award, an award that honors the Virginia Small College Player of the Year. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Performance from Emory & Henry in 2013.
