Luke Summers joined the Ferrum staff in January 2016 as Offensive Coordinator. He came to Ferrum from Muskingum College, where he served four years as an assistant coach. In 2017, the Panthers finished third in the USA South in total offense and had five players named to the All-Conference team, including Offensive Player of the Year Brian Mann. In 2016, Ferrum finished second in the conference in rushing offense and had three All-Conference selections, including Mann as Offensive Rookie of the Year.

At Muskingum, Summers coached the offensive line from 2012-15, as well as Offensive Coordinator in 2015, and served as Recruiting Coordinator. Prior to that, he was an assistant three years at Mount Union College, where he helped the Purple Raiders earn NCAA Div. III national runner-up finishes in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
 
Football camps Summers has worked include Notre Dame High School Position Camp, Lauren’s First and Goal Camp, Larry Kehres Football Camp and the Toledo Big Man & Position Camps. Summers earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mount Union in 2009. He played for Mount Union as an offensive lineman from 2005-08, helping the team win national titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008. D3football.com named Summers to its All-America first team in 2008.
