Costa comes to Ferrum in August 2021 from Castleton University, where he most recently served as the Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach for three seasons. He also served a year in 2021-22 as Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach.

While at Castletton, Costa saw 17 of his student-athletes earn National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Academic All-America honors and two wrestlers qualify for the NCAA National Tournament.

In addition to his experiences at Castleton, Costa also spent time as the Head Wrestling Coach at Spartian Academy, a club program associated with Castleton University.

Costa earned his Bachelor of Science from Castleton in May 2018, with a major in Sport Management and a minor in Business. He then earned his Master of Science in Athletic Leadership from Castleton in May 2020. Costa was a decorated wrestler on the mat as well, earning NWCA Academic All-American honors two seasons, while also being named All-Region two seasons.
