Lawrence Robinson joined the Ferrum College athletics staff as Assistant Football Coach in June 2024. Robinson will work under first-year Head Coach Kevin Sherman, and work with Ferrum's running backs and tight ends.

In his first year, Jahylen Lee earned 2nd Team ODAC as a Running Back, and Caleb Holland earned 3rd Team ODAC as an All-Purpose Back, despite missing multiple games. Lee finished 3rd in the ODAC/46th Nationally with 93.3 Rushing Yards per Game, 2nd in the ODAC/50th Nationally in Total Rush Yards, and 3rd in the ODAC in All-Purpose yards 111.9 Yards per Game. He was also named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week, twice.The offensive run game improved from 1,125 total rush yards and 2.9 per attempt in 2023 to 1,597 yards and 4.1 per attempt in 2024, while finishing 6th Nationally in Red Zone Offense, and 2nd Nationally in 4th Down Conversions Percentage at 78%.He also recruited Punter Daniel Hutton from Bluefield State University, who earned First-Team All ODAC, Second Team All-Region, and VaSID College Division Football First Team Specials Team. 

Robinson came to Ferrum after three and a half years at NCAA Division II Bluefield State University, where he was the defensive backs and defensive passing game coordinator from February 2021 to February 2022. During that inaugural season, the team finished 24th in the HBCU Sports National rankings, and held defensive national rankings of 1st Down Defense (1st), Defensive Pass Efficiency (4th), and in Passing Yards Allowed (16th). From March 2022 to March 2024, Robinson served as Defensive Coordinator and defensive backs coach, and in 2023, saw national rankings in Opponents First Downs (31st), and Passing Yards Allowed (17th), and saw three Second Team All-CIAA selections in their first year of eligibility in Jaylyn Norris (DL), TJ Gunter (LB), and Justin Campbell (DB). In 2022, the defense held national rankings in Opponent First Downs (14th), and Red Zone Defense (5th), while seeing Jhor’dan Inniss finish 15th Nationally in Total Tackles, and Gio Waller and Vernon Redd finished 4th and 24th Nationally in Passes Defended, respectfully. In January 2024, Robinson was named Interim Head Football Coach at Bluefield State, running day-to-day operations for the program.

Prior to Bluefield State, Robinson was the cornerbacks coach at Allegheny College from 2019-21, where he coached Quentin Hunt to earn 2nd Team All-NCAC with 38 tackles, 13 PBUs, and 1 Interception.The defensive pass game improved from 233 yards per game and 20 TDs in 2018 to 198.8 yards per game and 15 TDs in 2019, and the Cornerbacks contributed for 22 of the teams’ 44 PBUs.Before Allegheny, Coach Robinson served as a Defensive Quality Control at the College of William & Mary from 2018-19 under Jimmy Laycock and Mike London where the defense ranked nationally in Total Defense (45th), Pass Efficiency (40th), Pass Yards Allowed (25th), and scoring Defense (47th). He began his coaching career at Hargrave Military Academy in 2013, and served the 2017-18 season as the Tigers' Assistant Head Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator.

Robinson played collegiate football at West Liberty University, and was a starting free safety for the Hilltoppers' 2009 team that won the WVIAC Conference championship and advanced to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division II playoffs. He earned All-Conference honorable mention in 2009. Robinson also served as team captain in 2011 and was named the 2011 Joseph Bartell Award, honoring him as the best all-around defensive back athletically and academically.
