Marvelous Rutledge joined the Ferrum College wrestling coaching staff after completing a four-year collegiate wrestling career, two at Notre Dame College in Ohio, and two at at NCAA Division II Lander University in South Carolina. During his time with the Bearcats, he established himself as one of the program's top performers while competing on nationally successful teams.
A two-time NCAA Division II national qualifier and two-time All-American, Rutledge helped lead Lander to a fourth-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and a fifth-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. He was also sixth at the Midwest Classic Tournament in 2026, one of the toughest tournaments at the NCAA Div. II level.Â
He also earned National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-America recognition in 2024-25 for his accomplishments in the classroom.

His experience, work ethic, and passion for developing student-athletes will make an immediate impact on our program."
Rutledge brings a strong foundation in athlete development, technical instruction, strength and conditioning, and leadership. His experience competing at the national level will provide valuable perspective as he helps mentor Ferrum's student-athletes both on and off the mat.
Prior to his collegiate career, Rutledge was a two-time Ohio state qualifier and placed third at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Championships in 2021.
