Ronnie Edwards, Ferrum College picked up a 21-13 win over Methodist University this afternoon at home during Homecoming Weekend on the Ferrum campus.

The Panthers got on the board first when Vann scored from five yards out to cap a 12-play, 76-yard drive at 8:30 of the first quarter. Clint Slappey's PAT made it 7-0. Methodist tied the game at 7-7 on a 1-yard run by RB Corey McGuire at 10:48 of the second quarter, with a Mario Miralles PAT.
Edwards ran 41 yards on Ferrum's next possession to the Monarchs' 9 yard line, where Vann punched it and Slappey hit the PAT for a 14-7 Panther lead with 9:55 remaining in the first half. The score capped a 3-play 64-yard drive.
Ferrum extended its lead to 21-14 when Vann plunged in from a yard out at 10:22 of the third quarter. The Panther drive took just five plays to cover 72 yards. Methodist trimmed the lead to 21-13 with just 2:17 left to play in the game on McGuire's 1-yard run and a missed PAT. Methodist's on-side kick was recovered by Ferrum's Quin Tibbs and the Panthers ran the clock out for the win.
Vann had 132 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Edwards had 107 yards rushing on eight carries. For Vann, it was his fifth straight game in which he has scored one or more touchdowns. QB
Matt Dobson was 3-10 passing for 38 yards, with no TDs, no interceptions and was sacked twice.
QB Brandon Parks led Methodist with 58 yards rushing on 12 carries. McGuire had 27 yards rushing and two TDs. Parks was 17-25 passing for 195 yards, no TD, no interceptions and was sacked once.
Defensively, LB J.J. Jordan had seven solo tackles and five assists for Ferrum. LB Daryl Lawrence had five solo stops, seven assists, and a tackle for loss for the Monarchs.
Vann has played in six of Ferrum's first seven games and leads the Panthers in rushing yards (572), rushing yards/game (95.3), rushing TDs (8), receptions (10), receiving TDs (2), kickoff returns yards (284), total TDs (11), and scoring (66 points).
Ferrum (4-3, 3-1 USA South) had 368 yards in total offense, 362 rushing and 38 passing. Methodist (1-5, 1-2) matched that with 366 yards, 179 rushing and 195 passing.
Ferrum will be idle next week but returns to action Oct. 27 when it hosts USA South opponent Greensboro College. The game will take place during the 2007 Ferrum College Blue Ridge Folklife Festival. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m
