FERRUM, VA. --
Mike Vann rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns but it wasn't nearly enough as North Carolina Wesleyan College routed Ferrum College 41-14 this afternoon in USA South football action at W.B. Adams Stadium.

Tyreck McFadden had 147 yards rushing and three TDs on 17 carries, and Stedman Mathis had 132 yards rushing and two scores on 22 carries to lead the Bishops to the win. Quarterback Bo Jordan was 18-26 passing for 311 yards and a TD, with no interceptions and no sacks.
Vann opened scoring with a 13-yard touchdown on Ferrum's first possession, capping a 6-play, 60-yard drive at 12:05 of the first quarter. N.C. Wesleyan struck back early in the second quarter with a 5-yard run by Stedman Mathis to tie the game at 7-7.
Vann then galloped 84 yards down the Wesleyan sideline on the first play of the ensuring drive for a 14-7 lead. Stedman tied the score at 14-14 with 1:25 left in the first half with his second TD of the game, a 2-yard run to cap an 8-play, 67-yard drive.
The second half was all N.C. Wesleyan. The Bishops' defensive unit pitched a shutout on Ferrum while scoring four touchdowns. McFadden scored rushing touchdowns of four, three and 84 yards in the third quarter to blow the game open. Jordan hit Laqwan Brodie with a 70-yard scoring pass with 6:40 left in the game to close out scoring.
The Bishops piled up 600 yards in total offense, 311 passing and 287 rushing. Ferrum had 376 yards total offense, 341 rushing and 35 passing. Starting QB

Defensively, Ferrum was led by
Devin Genchi's 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, two assisted tackles and a tackle for loss. Alex Flores led the Bishops with four solo and two assisted tackles.
N.C. Wesleyan (5-4, 4-2 USA South now owns a 4-1 edge since the series began in 2004. The Bishops won the USA South title outright last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs.Â
Ferrum (7-2, 5-1 USA South) travels to Newport News next Saturday to take on Christopher Newport University. The winner of that game will earn the USA South's automatic qualifier into this year's NCAA playoffs. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at POMOCO Field.
