MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Ferrum College closed out the season with a 21-14 football win over Maryville College this afternoon on the road.

Thomas Porter made it a day to remember, closing out his last career game with a pair of rushing touchdowns.  Porter scored on runs of 25 and two yards, both in the second quarter, to spot Ferrum a 14-0 halftime lead.

Maryville got on the board at 13:22 of the fourth quarter on a Wesley Idlette 8-yard TD pass from Tom Connor to trim the lead to 14-7.  Ferrum scored seven seconds later on a 31-yard run by Makya Jackson.

Idlette scored again, this time on a 49-yard pass from Jeff Turner, but Ferrum held on for the USA South win.

Steven Harris had 91 yards on 12 rushes for Ferrum.  Matt Dobson was 3-11 passing for 95 yards with one interception.  Connor threw for 128 yards on 10-24 passing with one TD and no interceptions for MC.  Rommell Hightower had 103 yards rushing on 11 carries for the Scots.

Jamar Moseley was in on 12 tackles today for Ferrum (5-5, 3-4 USA South), two solo stops and 10 assisted.  Kyle Chewning was in on 15 tackles for Maryville (4-6, 3-4 USA South), including six solos.
