EMORY, Va. -- The Ferrum College volleyball team dropped its season-opening match at Emory & Henry College tonight, falling 3-0 to the Wasps.  Set scores were 25-18, 25-12, 25-15.

Jessica Flanagan led Ferrum with 1o kills and 13 digs. Hannah Shumaker had 14 assists and four kills, while Kayla Trippeer had five kills to go with three blocks in her college debut.

Ferrum (0-1) returns to action Sept. 4-5 at the Roanoke College Invitational in Salem. The Panthers play Sweet Briar College and Roanoke Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Ferrum then takes on Randolph College and Emory & Henry Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.
