FERRUM, Va. -- Kashina Hancock belted a walk-off two-run homer over the center field fence in the bottom of the eighth inning to help Ferrum College earn a 2-0 win over Piedmont College (3-3) in the second game of a doubleheader and salvage a split. The Lions won the opener 5-1.

The blast was Hancock's first hit of the game, after having gone 3-4 with a double in the first game. Kaitlyn Culler pitched all eight innings in game two, allowing four hits and no runs or walks, while striking out four.

B.J. Cofer got the win for Piedmont in the first game.  She pitched all seven innings, allowing eight hits and one earned run, walked none and struck out six of the 28 Ferrum batters she faced.

Ferrum (8-8) returns to action Wednesday, March 17, at home against Greensboro College. The USA South doubleheader gets underway at 4:30 p.m. at Franklin Community Bank Field.
