STAUNTON, Va. -- Ferrum College swept Mary Baldwin College 17-0 and 10-1 in USA South softball action tonight on the road.   Both games were stopped after five innings due to the eight-run rule after five innings.

Whitney Womack went 7-7 in the two games with a double, four runs and eight RBI.  Megan Barger went 3-3 with a double, four RBI, a run and a stolen base.

Hannah Shumaker and Rachel Shumaker each homored in the first game for Ferrum. Hannah went 5-8 with a home run, three runs, three RBI and a stolen base in the two games. Rachel went 5-9 with a homer, four runs, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Kaitlyn Culler got the win in the first game, pitching three innings and striking out six. Hannah Shumaker got the win in game two, pitching three innings and fanning four. Neither Ferrum pitcher allowed a run. Ferrum combined to out-hit Mary Baldwin (1-16, 0-6 USA South) 32-8 in the two games.

Ferrum (16-8, 6-0 USA South) returns to action Saturday, March 27, at home against Peace College.  The USA South doubleheader gets underway at 2 p.m. at Franklin Community Bank Field on the Ferrum campus.
