FERRUM, Va. -- Kashina Hancock's solo blast in the fifth inning was the difference as Ferrum College took the opener of a non-conference softball doubleheader over Roanoke College 1-0 April 13 at Franklin Community Bank Field.  Kaitlyn Culler pitched a complete game three-hitter for Ferrum.

Hollee Warlitner had a grand slam in the first inning to lead the Maroons (26-5) to a 10-4 win in the nightcap.  Whitney Womack had a solo homer for Ferrum in the fifth inning of game two.

Ferrum will compete in the USA South Tournament Friday through Sunday at Springwood Park in Burlington, North Carolina.  The Panthers (26-14) are the #4 seed and play #5 Meredith College Friday at 11 a.m.  The league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament is up for grabs.
