FERRUM, Va. -- Marcus Mayo had 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Ferrum College but the Panthers fell 23-17 in double-overtime to visiting Emory & Henry College this afternoon at W.B. Adam Stadium.

Ferrum is now 0-2 in overtime games with Emory & Henry, having lost 13-10 in 1997.  That game took four OT periods before being decided.

In the second OT period, tailback Caleb Jennings scooped up a fumble at the Ferrum one yard line and plunged into the end zone for the winning score.  He closed the game with 213 yards rushing and three TDs.  Jennings scored a touchdown with 14 seconds remaining to help Emory & Henry beat Ferrum 26-21 last year in Emory, Virginia.

After three scoreless quarters, Jennings got the Wasps on the board with a 1-yard run at 12:13 of the fourth quarter.  Mayo capped an 8-play, 60-yard drive with a 10-yard TD run less than five minutes later to knot the score at 7-7.

Emory & Henry scored next on a Matt Turchin 33-yard field goal with 42 second left in regulation to put the Wasps up 10-7.  Ferrum answered the challenge with a Scott Puschell 47-yard field goal with two second left to play, sending the game into overtime.

In the first OT period, Jennings ran 13 yards for his second TD of the day for a 17-10 E&H lead.  Mayo ran two yards for a score to tie things up at 17-17.  Puschell was wide right on a 28-yard field goal attempt in the second OT, before Jennings pickup up QB Dustin Beck's fumble at the one year line and ran it in for the win.

Beck was 14-of-21 passing with an interception for Emory & Henry, and was sacked once.  Mayo was 67-16 with an interception for the Panthers.

Defensively, Devan Sproles had three solo tackles to go with 12 assisted stops for the Wasps.  Chris McCalla had five solo and five assisted tackles to lead Ferrum's defensive unit.
