DANVILLE, Va. -- Averett University topped Ferrum College 49-46 in USA South women's basketball action tonight, avenging an earlier loss to the Panthers.

Liz Martin had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (9-8, 5-6 USA South), while Abby Bailey had 10 points.

Ferrum (12-5, 8-3 USA South) was led by Kristen Keith, who had a game-high 14 points on 6-18 shooting. Shea Smith added 11 points in the loss.

Ferrum shot just 32% from the floor, while Averett shot 35%.  Averett won the battle of the boards 44-32.

The Panthers return to action Sunday, Jan. 30, at home against Methoodist University.
