FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College used a 27-point second half to roll past Bridgewater College 37-6 in non-conference football this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium.

Will Davis (22-yard) and Ferrum's
Scott Puschell (34-yard) traded field goals in the first quarter to open the game.Â
Tyler Brubaker then lined up in the backfield after taking a handoff from Mayo, stepped back and hit
Makya Jackson for a 25-yard scoring pass with 1:48 remaining in the first to put Ferrum ahead 10-7.
Following a scoreless second quarter, Brubaker hauled in a 49-yard TD score from quarterback
Marcus Mayo at 12:24 of the third quarter for a 17-6 Panther lead. Davis scored Bridgewater's final points on another 22-yard field goal with 5:22 left in the third.
Mayo scored on a 2-yard run at 3:07 of the third, then
Darrick Young and
Corey Smith capped scoring with fourth-quarter touchdown runs and two yards and one yard, respectively. Mayo was 6-10 passing for 122 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions and a sack. He led the team in rushing as well with 127 yards and a score on 18 carries.
Marcco McNeal had 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, and an interception he would return 15 yards.Â
Melvin Trotter had 10 tackles, including two solo and one for loss.
Carlos Gonzalez was 14-29 passing for 149 yards passing with two interceptions and a sack for the Eagles (2-1). Anthony Carter rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries.
Ferrum (1-2) returns to action Saturday, Oct. 1, at Maryville College. The USA South-opener for both teams gets underway at 1:30 p.m. in Maryville, Tnenessee.
