FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a USA South Athletic Conference volleyball doubleheader this afternoon at home, falling 3-1 to LaGrange College and 3-0 to Averett University. Set scores against LaGrange were 25-17, 25-27, 25-21, 25-16. Averett swept the Panthers 25-18, 25-5, 25-12.
Kayla Trippeer led Ferrum with 14 kills and 11 digs against LaGrange.
Brittany Jacobs had 12 kills and 12 digs, while
Leah Quinones had 34 assists. Katie Covington had 19 kills for LaGrange (4-11, 1-1 USA South), and Erin McKinstry had 39 assists.
Trippeer had eight kills and eight digs against Averett, Quinones had 16 assists. Allison Sparks had 10 kills and Nicole Barringer had 31 assists for the Cougars (11-6, 3-1 USA South).
Ferrum (1-10, 0-4 USA South) returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 3, at home against Mary Baldwin College. The USA South match gets underway at 7 p.m. at Swartz Gym. The Panthers will hold its annual DIG PINK NIGHT in support of breat cancer awareness. Prior to the game, a silent auction will be held in the Swartz Gym Trophy Room.
