Jacole Hairston led all scorers with 17 points as Ferrum College posted a 70-59 USA South Athletic Conference women's basketball win over Averett University tonight on the road.
Katy Kipps (had 10 points and 15 rebounds for Ferrum.
The Panthers led by 10 at halftime, but used a 12-3 run to open the second half and take a 54-35 lead at the 15:16 mark.
Kylene Culler had a game-high 11 rebounds to go with four points for Ferrum.
Tesla Akers had a solid night with eight points, six assists, six rebounds and a steal, while
Rachel Dalton chipped in nine points.
Averett (5-12, 4-6 USA South) got 16 points from Mette Scheiman and 10 points from Ariana Covington. Ferrum (15-2, 9-1 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Jan. 26, at Mary Baldwin College. The USA South game against the Fighting Squirrels gets underway at 4:00 p.m. in Staunton, Virginia.
