FERRUM, Va. -- Tae Gilbert rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown to lead Ferrum College to a 31-21 USA South Athletic Conference football win over Greensboro College this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadiaum during the College's Centennial Homecoming Celebration.

Prior to the game, the College hosted its annual Alumni Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and four individuals were enshrined, along with Ferrum's four NJCAA national championship football teams from 1965, 1968, 1974 and 1974. The four individuals include baseball player William Jeffrey Booker '82, golfer Lewis "Skeeter" Fore '63, women's soccer player Susan Sautter Green '98 and women's tennis player Lindsay Morton Rooks '02. The four individuals and members of the four championship football teams were also introduced to the Homecoming crowd at halftime.

Tim Reynolds opened scoring with a seven-yard run at 6:43 of the first quarter. Michael Hunter made it 14-0 when he hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Reynolds at 12:10 of the second quarter. Warren Scott trimmed the lead to 14-7 with a one-yard run at 2:42 of the second for the Pride. Ferrum then drove 52 yards in eight plays to set up a 25-yard field goal for placekicker Wesley Franklin, and the Panthers took a 17-7 lead into the locker room.

Tripp Honeycutt scored on a 19-yard pass from Ryan Throndset at 10:04 of the third quarter and Greensboro was within three points at 17-14. Kahlil Smith scored on an 18-yard pass from Reynolds with 6:52 left in the third. Greensboro mustered a quick drive, scoring on a four-play, 65-yard drive that was capped by Scott's two-yard run that ate up only 1:36 of the clock, and the score was 24-21 with 5:16 left in the third.

Gilbert closed out scoring with a six-yard run with 5:30 left in the game. Ferrum went 78 yards in 12 plays on that final drive, using up 5:45 of the clock. The Panther defense id the rest to preserve the win, including an Anthony Orton interception that stopped the Pride's final drive.

Reynolds closed the game with 197 yards on 13-19 passing with two touchdowns and no interceptions for Ferrum (1-4, 1-1 USA South). The Panthers rolled up 436 yards in total offense, while holding Greensboro to 304 yards, an opponent season-low.

Ryan Throndset was 17-31 passing for 212 yards and a score for Greensboro (1-4, 0-2 USA South). Chris Ham made nine tackles for Ferrum, Shapiro Keeling added seven, and Anthony Orton had five tackles and the game's only interception. For Greensboro, Julian Cinotti and Ethan Smith made 12 and 10 tackles, respectively.

Ferrum has an off week coming up, then returns to action Saturday, Oct. 19, at home against Averett University. The USA South game is designated Franklin County Appreciation Day, with ticket prices reduced to just $2.00. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at W.B. Adams Stadium.
