Tae Gilbert and
D'Angelo Avery scored fourth-quarter touchdowns as Ferrum College fell 33-16 to North Carolina Wesleyan College in USA South football action this afternoon on the road.
The Bishops, who led 23-0 at halftime and 33-0 after three quarters, rolled up 579 yards in total offense to Ferrum's 312.
Gilbert had 90 yards and a score on seven rushes.
Tim Reynolds was 8-19 passing for 65 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.
Chris Ham had a game-high eight tackles for Ferrum (2-6, 2-3 USA South), including six solo stops.
N.C. Wesleyan defensive back Travonne Marshall picked off two of Reynolds passes. Robbie Lanier was 14-25 passing for 240 yards and no interceptions for N.C. Wesleyan (2-7, 2-4 USA South). Jacques Alston rumbled for 205 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries.
The Panthers return to action Saturday. Nov. 9, at home against USA South opponent LaGrange College. Coach Dave Harper's team closes out the season Nov. 16 at home against reigning USA South champ Christopher Newport University.
