MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- All five starters scored in double figures as the Ferrum College women's basketball team beat Birmingham-Southern College in the first day of the Bancorp South Holiday Classic, hosted by Rhodes College.

Katy Kipps posted 17 points and 10 rebounds for Ferrum (3-0). Jacole Hairston, Kylene Culler and Shea Smith had 16 points each, and Boreika Burwell chipped in 11 points.

Ferrum led 41-36 at halftime, and shot 48% from the floor. Birmingham-Southern out-rebounded Ferrum

Kelsey Brown had 20 points for Birmingham-Southern (4-5), while Breanne DeBaets had 15 points, Kayla Ford and had 11 and Ashley Curry had 10. Rhodes beat Westminster (Mo.) 83-48 in the earlier game. Ferrum will face Rhodes Monday at 3:00 p.m. CST.
