MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Ferrum College dropped a 6-4 USA South Athletic Conference game at Maryville College this afternoon at Scotland Yard. With the win, the Scots sweep the three-game league series, including yesterday's 12-11 ansd 11-1 wins over the Panthers.
Wes Walker and
Taryn Hayden each went 2-4 with a run scored for Ferrum this afternoon. Walker also had an RBI. Starter
Tyler Easterly got the loss after pitching five and a third innings with six hits allowed, six earned runs, four walks and three strikeouts.
Hank Parsley pitched the final two and a third innings, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks.
Nick Dean went 4-5 with a run scored for the Scots (8-9, 6-6 USA South). Starter Chris Sutherland pitched 8.1 innings to earn the win. He allowed nine hits, three earned runs and three walks, while striking out three. Nick Bowers earned the save, pitching the final two outs with no hits, runs, walks or strikeouts.
Ferrum (7-13, 3-12 USA South) will attempt to stop a six-game skid when it hosts Hampden-Sydney College Thursday, March 14. The non-conference game gets underway at 7:00 p.m. at Panther Field. Coach Darren Hodges' team will then host USA South newcomer LaGrange College in a three-game series Friday through Sunday, March 15-17.
