MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Maryville College scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the opener 12-11 over Ferrum College, then blasted the Panthers 11-1 in the nightcap to take the first two games of a three-game USA South Athletic Conference baseball series.

Wes Walker went 3-4 with a double, three RBI, a stolen base and a run in game one.  Eddie McGrath had a solo homer in the sixth inning of the nightcap for the Panthers (7-12, 3-11).

Tim Brackett earned the complete game win in game two for Maryville (7-9, 5-6), scattering six hits over nine innings with four strikeouts.  The two teams play again Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
