Kylene Culler had 21 points, 14 rebounds and a bocked shot to fuel Ferrum College's 92-56 USA South Athletic Conference women's basketball win over Averett University Saturday, Jan. 11, on the road.
Jacole Hairston added 16 points,
Jessica Rhodes had 11 points, and
Shea Smith had nine points to go with an impressive 12 assists. The Panthers led 42-20 at halftime, and out-rebounded Averett 52-42.
The Cougars (1-8, 0-3 USA South) were led by Brianna Taylor, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was the only player in double-digit scoring for her team, which shot just under 27% from the floor. Ferrum shot 56% from the floor, including 36% from behind the three-point line.
Ferrum (8-0, 3-0 USA South) returns to action Sunday, Jan. 12, with a non-conference home game against the Apprentice School at 2:00 p.m. in Swartz Gymnasium. This is a make-up game from a previously scheduled game in December that was postponed due to a freezing rain storm.
