LaGRANGE, Ga. -- Ferrum split a pair of volleyball matches at a USA South Athletic Conference quad meet this afternoon on the road. The Panthers fell 3-2 to LaGrange, then beat Huntingdon 3-2. Set scores against LaGrange were 25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-6. Set scores against Huntingdon were 29-27, 14-25, 18-25, 25-23, 18-16.
Jessie O'Conner had 13 kills,
Leteashia Clarke had 10 kills and
Emily Danner had 24 assists in the loss to LaGrange.
Sarah Hendrix posted a match-high 28 digs,
Ashley Ammann had 13 digs and
Hannah Blake had 20 assists. Katie Chancellor had 16 kills and Mary Schmitz had 33 assists to lead LaGrange (12-14, 4-6 USA South).
Ammann led the Panthers with 16 kills and 15 digs, while Danner had 43 assists in the win over Huntingdon. Hendrix had 32 digs, O'Conner had 12 kills, Clarke had 11 kills, Jordan had 10 kills and 11 digs,
Ebony Crawford had 10 kills and
Jessica Turner had 15 digs. Rachel Dunlay had 14 kills, Bria Rochelle had 13 kills, Lexi Rangel had 30 assists and Lauren Condon had 38 digs for the Hawks (5-20, 0-10 USA South).
Ferrum (4-19, 3-12 USA South) returns to action Thursday, Oct. 23, at home against Greensboro College. The USA South match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Swartz Gymnasium. Coach Jessica Flanagan's team will then play in another USA South quad Friday, Oct. 24, this time in Danville, Virginia. The Panthers will face William Peace University at 3:00 p.m., then take on North Carolina Wesleyan College at 5:00 p.m.
