FERRUM, Va. - The Ferrum College volleyball team will host its annual Dig Pink Night on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in connection with its home match against Hollins University. The non-conference match is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m. in Swartz Gymnasium.

Sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation, Dig Pink events are held nationwide at participating middle schools, high schools and colleges. All proceeds benefit Side-Out, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.

During Tuesday night's announcements of team lineups, Ferrum players will be introduced as playing "in honor of" or "in memory of" someone. In between the second and third sets, a list of cancer survivors will be recognized.

Also, a silent auction will begin in Swartz Gym's Davis Conference Room at noon Tuesday and will conclude at the end of the match. Ferrum athletic teams have donated many items for the silent auction, including shirts, shorts, warm-ups and jackets. Anyone interested in donating items should contact Ferrum Volleyball Coach Jessica Flanagan at jlflanagan@ferrum.edu.
