FERRUM, Va. -- In a game where points were hard to come by,
Katy Kipps dominated both ends of the floor with eight points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks to lead Ferrum College to a 55-35 USA South women's basketball win this afternoon over Methodist University at Swartz Gymnasium.
Krista Cox led the floor with 11 points and was 3-4 from beyond the arc.
Jacole Hairston was also in double figures as she produced 10 points.
Shea Smith had a game high nine assists and picked up eight rebounds as well. On defense for the Panthers,
Kylene Culler had 11 rebounds. In a very defensive first half, Ferrum only gave up 13 points to take a 23-13 lead at the break.
For the Monarchs (10-8, 6-6 USA South), Jackie Lyles had eight points on the day and Ayanna Pegues was able to pick up nine rebounds. Ferrum was able to shoot 26% from the behind the three-point line compared to Methodist's 6.7%.
#18 Ferrum (17-1, 11-1 USA South) returns to action tomorrow afternoon at home. The USA South double-header against North Carolina Wesleyan College gets underway at 1 p.m. The men's basketball game will follow immediately after.
