FERRUM, Va. -- Three Ferrum College athletic teams will be in action on campus Saturday, March 8. The Panther men's and women's lacrosse teams will play at home, and Ferrum will host the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.

Coach Mark Frey's men's lacrosse team looks to improve on its 1-5 record when it entertains Eastern University this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. The non-conference game gets underway at 3:30 p.m.

Coach Karen Harvey's women's lacrosse team will host USA South newcomer Huntingdon College today. The league matchup is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Penn-Roediger Field. The Panthers come into the game with a 3-3 overall record, and are 1-1 in USA South play.

Coach Bryan Harvey's team is hosting an NCAA Women's Basketball second round game tonight against Christopher Newport University. The Panthers won their first-ever NCAA postseason game when they beat Capital University last night 73-70 in the first round in front of an audience of 1,050 spectators. Junior forward Kylene Culler set a new NCAA Tournament record for single game rebounds in the process, hauling down 24. The Panthers bring a 27-2 record into the game, while CNU is 23-5.

Tickets for the NCAA women's basketball game go on sale at 5:30 p.m. today at the main entrance of Swartz Gymnasium. Tickets cost $3.00 for students with a valid College ID, and $6.00 for general admission.

On Sunday, March 9, Ferrum's men's and women's tennis, softball and women's lacrosse teams will all be in action on campus. Women's lacrosse plays USA South opponent LaGrange College at 11:00 a.m., Coach Joshua Parmenter's tennis teams face LaGrange College at 12:00 p.m., and Coach Vickie Van Kleeck's softball team hosts LaGrange in a doubleheader starting at 1:30 p.m.
