Karly Thompson had a solo homer in the first inning and
Amanda Roberts had a three-run blast in the third inning to lead Ferrum College to a 6-2 win in the opener of a non-conference softball doubleheader with Lynchburg College.
Chloe Brzycki had a two-run homer in the sixth inning of the nightcap for Ferrum, but Lynchburg held on for a 3-2 win.
Emily Taylor pitched all seven innings to get the win in game one for Ferrum. She allowed six hits, an earned run and a walk, and struck out four. Thompson went 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Roberts,

Heather Mayberry helped fuel the Panther offense with a pair of base hite each.
Thompson went 2-4 and scored a run in game two. She closed out a productive day going a combined 5-8 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Danielle Powell combined to go 4-6 at the plate with an RBI in two games for the Hornets (26-12).
Ferrum (23-13) is scheduled to play Roanoke College on the road Monday, April 21. The non-conference doubleheader gets underway at 5:00 p.m. at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia.
