LOOKOUT Mountain, Ga. -- Ferrum College dropped two of three USA South Athletic Conference baseball games to league leader Covenant College Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, on the road. 

Saturday opened with a continuation of series opener, suspended Friday night with Ferrum winning in the bottom of the eighth inning due to darkness.  The game included a two-hour fog delay.  The Panthers closed that game out with an 8-4 win.

Covenant came back to post a pair of wins, 3-1 and 11-6.  Will Carleton had a two-run homer in the third inning of game two for Covenant (20-7, 14-4 USA South).  Lane Deaver went 3-4 with a run and an RBI in the third game for Ferrum.

Ferrum (18-12, 15-6 USA South) will be back in action Tuesday, Apriol 8, at home against Lynchburg College.  The non-conference game gets underway at 6:00 p.m. at Panther Field.  Coach Ryan Brittle's team will then travel to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, for a three-game series with Huntingdon College Thursday through Saturday, April 10-12.  The game will be part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival, in which all six of the league's spring sports teams will be in action, vying for NCAA Tournament bids.
