SALEM, Va. -- Ferrum College's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season today over Hollins University, winning 3-1. Set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18. The match was played at the 2014 Roanoke Invitational, in which the Panthers posted a 1-3 record over the weekend.
Jordan Link had 12 kills,
Jordan Joyce had 10 kills,
Emily Danner had 20 assists,
Hannah Blake had 15 assists,
Sarah Hendrix had 20 digs and
Ashley Ammann had 19 digs.
Earlier in the day, Ferrum fell 3-0 to Southern Virginia University by scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-20. Danner posted nine assists and
Leteashia Clarke had four blocks. The Panthers also fell to Randolph College and Roanoke College Friday night, both by scores of 3-0. Danner posted 14 assists against Randolph, Hendrix had 16 digs, and Link had 12 digs. Against Roanoke, Hendrix had 20 digs.
Ferrum (1-6) returns to action Monday, Sept. 15, at home against Roanoke. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Swartz Gym. Coach Jessica Flanagan's team then plays its USA South Athletic Conference opener on the road Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Averett University. The match begins at 7:00 p.m. in Danville, Virginia.
