FERRUM, Va. -- Sarah Long had 12 kills and Brooke Bostwick had 10 kills as Roanoke College came back from a set down to post a 3-1 non-conference volleyball win over Ferrum College tonight at Swartz Gym. Set scores were 15-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19.
The Panthers were on fire early in the match, jumping out to a big lead in taking the opening set. Roanoke tied the match at a set all, then went up 2-1 after the third set. In the final set, the score was tight through to the end, with Roanoke claiming the win and spoiling Ferrum's attempt to win two in a row.
Jessica Block had 36 assists and 11 digs for the Maroons (11-2).
Jordan Link led the Panthers with 10 kills, while
Emily Danner had 24 assists.
Ashley Ammann had 17 digs,
Sarah Hendrix had 16 digs and
Jessie O'Conner had nine kills in the loss.
Ferrum (1-7) will play next on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Averett University. The USA South opener begins at 7:00 p.m. in Danville, Virginia. The Panthers will then play in a USA South quad meet Saturday, Sept. 20, at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Ferrum plays Methodist at 10:00 a.m., before facing Meredith College at 2:00 p.m.
