ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Ferrum College split a pair of USA South Athletic Conference volleyball matches this afternoon on the road, beating host North Carolina Wesleyan College 3-1 and losing to William Peace University 3-1.
Set scores against N.C. Wesleyan were 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 25-22.
Emily Danner was on fire, posting 41 assists, and
Ebony Crawford had 12 kills.
Jordan Link and
Ashley Ammann had nine kills each.
Sarah Hendrix had 26 digs, while Ammann and
Bridget Atkinson had 10 digs each. Tori Stewart led the Bishops (2-11, 1-4 USA South) with 10 kills, and Christina Huber had 27 digs.
Set scores against William Peace were 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-23. Link had 12 kills for the Panthers, Ammann had 11 and Crawford had 10. Danner posted 39 assists and Hendrix had 32 digs. The Pacers (5-14, 3-3 USA South) got 15 kills from Nicole Phillips, 14 from Laura Bland and 11 from Megan Mansfield. Lorena Fernandez had 40 assists and Maddie Irvin had 16 digs.
Ferrum (2-12, 1-5 USA South) returns to action Thursday, Oct. 2, at home against Mary Baldwin College. The USA South match is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m. in Swartz Gymnasium. Coach Jessica Flanagan's team will then compete against Maryville College and Covenant College Friday, Oct. 3, in a USA South quad meet held at Averett University in Danville, Virginia.
