FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College defeated Emory & Henry College 39-38 in non-conference football action this afternoon in front of a crowd of 4156 fans at W.B. Adams Stadium. The game was the first annual Crooked Road Classic and Ferrum President Dr. Jody Spooner presented the trophy to the Panther players and coaches following the game.

THE BASICS
The game was the career head coaching debut for Ferrum's Rob Grande, who spent the past 11 years as an assistant coach at Emory & Henry. The Panthers trailed 21-0 in the second quarter and 31-15 early in the fourth quarter. Ferrum tied the game at 31-31 with 1:17 left to play on two fourth-quarter touchdowns and a pair of two-point PAT conversions. Emory & Henry's Kendrick Kube then returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown to put the Wasps out in front 38-31 with 1:00 showing on the clock.
