FERRUM, Va. -- #13 Ferrum College hosted the 2017 Panther Open this afternoon at the Ferrum YMCA, and four wrestlers grabbed individual titles;
Max Baker (174),
Adam Bresson (184),
Tyrique Nolen (197) and
Carlos Leyva (285).
Leyva needed overtime to beat Penn College's Dylan Otis 5-3 in the title match, and closed the day with a 3-0 mark. It was Leyva's second title this season, including the Casperson Classic Nov. 17 in Buena Vista, Virginia. Baker posted an 8-4 win in the title match over Alderson Broaddus University's Davis Solak.
Finishing second were

Logan Armstrong (157), Darien Edwards (165) and Shamont Golden (197).
Brett Sommers (133), Cole Dillard (149), June Otey (157) and
Clifford Harrison (165) all placed third.
Coach Nate Yetzer's team returns to action Sunday, Feb. 5, at NCAA Div. II University of North Carolina, Pembroke.
