FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's non-conference baseball game against Cortland State, originally scheduled for March 14, was moved up to this afternoon at Panther Field, where the #3-ranked Red Dragons nipped the Panthers 5-3.

THE BASICS
Cortland State scored a pair of runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to grab a 5-2 lead, then held on for the win. Ferrum put itself in the position to win the game in the bottom of the ninth inning by putting two runners on base with two outs, but a fly out to center field ended the game. Justin Teague went 2-5 with run and an RBI for the Red Dragons.

Michael Dorsainvil each had a pair of base hits for the Panthers.

Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Thursday, March 16, at home against Hampden-Sydney College. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. Ferrum will then play a three-game USA South series at Maryville College Saturday and Sunday, March 18-19. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.
