DANVILLE, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up a USA South men's basketball win over Averett University tonight on the road, winning 77-72 at the Grant Center. The win gives Ferrum a sweep of the home and away series this season.

THE BASICS
Ferrum broke a 9-9 stalemate with a 9-0 run midway through the first half to take an 18-9 lead. The Cougars responded with a 21-12 run to tie the game 30-30 at halftime. Late in the second half, the game was tied 70-70 with 1:05 left to play when
D'Andre Mullen made a layup, was fouled and converted the three-point play with a free throw. Austin DeLucia made a layup for Averett with 48 seconds left to cut the lead to 73-72, but Mullen was fouled on the Panthers' next trip down the floor and sank a pair of free throws with 33 seconds left for a 75-72 lead.
Josh Dudley closed out scoring, making two free throws with 15 seconds left in regulation.
