FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's football team posted a near record scoring day with today's win over Greensboro College, posting an 81-0 non-conference whitewash.

THE BASICS
Ferrum's previous scoring record during its NCAA Division III era was a 77-7 win over Methodist University in 1990. The most points scored in a single game was when Ferrum was a junior college, an 83-3 win over Baltimore Community College in 1974. This was Ferrum's fourth time in school history scoring 80 or more points.

The Panthers opened the scoring barrage against Greensboro at 5:28 of the first quarter on a 50-yard strike from Zack Clifford to Johnny White. Ferrum exploded with four touchdowns in the second quarter for a 36-0 halftime lead and the rout was on. Clifford would close the day with a new school record four passing touchdowns. The Panthers rolled up 629 yards in total offense to Greensboro's minus 11 yards, a new school record for total defense. Chase Deaton scored 15 points on two field goals (24 yards, 34 yards) and nine PATs.
