Piedmont International scored a run in the top of the third, but Ferrum answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning on Bayley Cunningham's RBI single up the middle and the lead was 4-2 Ferrum.
Keri Hamlett reached on a fielder's choice in the fourth inning, stole second and scored on Eure's double to left center to extend the lead to 5-2. Maggie Smith had a three-run homer for Piedmont International in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5.
Lyndsey Sears then took a 2-1 pitch and sent a ball screaming over the left field fence in the bottom half of the frame to end the game.
