Box Score FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped its Old Dominion Athletic Conference football opener to Randolph-Macon College this afternoon at home, falling 44-21 at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Chris Vidal put the visitors on the scoreboard first with a 39-yard field goal at 8:30 of the first quarter. Ferrum answered with a 23-yards scoring strike from Titus Jones to Tmahdae Penn a couple minutes later and the Panthers led 7-3.
Randolph-Macon went back on top, courtesy of Justin DeLeon's 20-yard touchdown run at 3:19 of the first, then Vidal added a 33-yard field goal to open the second quarter and the score was 13-7 Yellow Jackets.
Zac Smiley rumbled in from a yard out at 7:55 of the second quarter and the Panthers owned their second lead of the day at 14-13. Presley Egbers scored on an 8-yard run five minutes later, then R-MC recoved a Ferrum fumble at the Panthers' 28 yard line and scored four plays later to make it a 27-14 game at the break.
Randolph-Macon outscored Ferrum 17-7 in the second half. Ferrum's lone second-half score was a 27-yard pass from Jones to Penn with 10:41 left in the game.
Jones set a new school record for single game passing yards with 372 this afternoon. The previous record-holder was Zack Clifford, who had 347 passing yards against the Apprentice School in 2017.
