Box Score FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College competed this afternoon at home against Eastern Mennonite University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball action, falling 3-0 at Swartz Gym. Set scores were 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.

THE BASICS
Eastern Mennonite grabbed a 6-1 lead in the opening set, only to see Ferrum use an 11-7 run to close the gap to 13-12. The Royals then reeled off six straight points to go up 19-12 and held on for the early 1-0 lead.
Ferrum led 5-2 in the second set, but EMU rallied to make it an 11-11 score. The two teams battled evenly for the next few minutes, with Ferrum going in front 14-12 on Taylor Joyner's kill off a set from Shelby Waltrip. The Royals scored five straight to take a 17-14 lead and never trailed from there in opening a two sets to love lead.
EMU opened an early 7-2 lead in the third set, only to see Ferrum rally to make it 8-8 on Savanna Walker's serve that included a pair of aces and a Joyner kill. Ferrum trailed 12-11 when the Royals started to pull away with a 5-1 run that put them out in front 17-12. The Panthers battled to the end, including a kill each by by Waltrip, Saryn Pennell and Joyner, but Eastern Mennonite closed it out with Paris Hutchinson's kill on match point.
