SALEM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's wrestling team competed this weekend at the Star City Classic, held Sunday, November 21, at Roanoke College's Cregger Center Fieldhouse.

THE BASICS
The Panthers entered nine wrestlers in the tournament and had four placewinners, led by Ethan Fragoso's runner-up finish at 285 pounds. Fragoso went 2-1 on the day, including a pin in the quarterfinal round over Apprentice's Peter Cortapasso.
Also placing in the 285-pound weight class was George Mitchell, who finished third with a 3-1 mark on the day. In his 3rd-place match, Mitchell beat Apprentice's Jarod Camacho 8-3.
Trent Proctor (125 lbs) closed the day 2-2, including a pin, and posted a 6th-place finish. Mason Rogers (133) also placed for the Panthers with a 2-2 mark and a pin en route to a 7th-place finish. In his 7th-place match, Rogers decked Apprentice's Drew Porter following a mad scramble on the edge of the mat at the 2:42 mark.

Coach Logan Meister's team will complete finals, then break for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Panthers will be back on the mat Sunday, December 5, at the Patriot Open, hosted by George Mason University.
