THE BASICS
Emory & Henry drew first blood, scoring a run in the bottom half of the first inning. Grey Sherfey's double down the left field line in the second innng erased the lead and allowed Justin Brady and Clayton Michael to score for a 2-1 Panther lead. The Wasps struck for two runs in the third inning, four in the seventh and one in the eighth, while Ferrum went through a six-inning drought to make it an 8-2 E&H lead.
The Panthers came alive in the ninth inning, scoring the first of five runs when Darden Eure-Parrish crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Sherfey scored on an infield throwing error and Emory & Henry's lead was down to 8-4.
Rufus Hurdle scored next when Matt Yarbrough was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 8-5. Tyson Measamer then drove a 2-RBI single to right field, allowing Josh Greenway and Ozzie Torres to score. That would do it though, as the Wasps retired the next Ferrum batter to end the game.
