Box Score 2 FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball doubleheader to Virginia Wesleyan University on Sunday, April 11, at Panther Field. The Panthers dropped a heartbreaker in the opener, falling 8-5 in 16 innings, then fell 14-9 in the nightcap. The league doubleheader began at 1:00 p.m. and concluded just past 10:00 p.m.

GAME 1
Matt Sinko's double with two outs in the top of the 16th inning drove in a pair of runs for Virginia Wesleyan, then Miles Christian's single drove in another to give the Marlins a win in the marathon opener.
Rufus Hurdle had a two-run homer in the second inning for Ferrum and closed the game 3-8 at the plate with two runs and two RBI. Josh Greenway went 3-5 with three doubles, a run, an RBI and two walks. Matt Dagostino had a three-run bomb in the eighth inning for the Marlins.
GAME 2
In the nightcap, Ferrum trailed 13-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Panthers rallied to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Greenway, a single by Grayson Chitwood, a fielder's choice by Jackson Horton and a single by Isaac Yeaman.
Ferrum would go on to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as the Marlins earned the ODAC road sweep. Greenway went 4-6 with a double, a run and two RBI, while Chitwood went 3-5 with a double, a run and an RBI.
UP NEXT
Coach Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Tuesday, April 13, at Roanoke College. The ODAC game gets underway at 7:00 p.m. in Salem, Virginia. The Panthers then host Averett University Wednesday, April 14, in a non-conference game scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
