FERRUM, Virginia-- The Ferrum College volleyball team dropped two matches in a tri-meet inside of Swartz Gymnasium Saturday evening, falling to Washington and Lee University 3-1 and Bridgewater College 3-0.

THE BASICS
Carson Allsteadt led the way for the Generals with 14 kills, as Sydney Heifner and Val Sokolow were right behind with 13. On defense, Sokolow had a team-high of 12 digs and Caroline Gard added 10 of her own. Ashley Webb recorded 53 assists as Head Coach Bryan Snyder reached win number 600 for the Generals. 

For the Panthers, Shelby Waltrip led the way in kills with 10, assists with 23, and digs with 16. Taylor Joyner joined Waltrip in the effort on defense, amassing 14 digs of her own. Anna Rymer recorded eight kills and led the team with a .273 attack percentage. 

In game two, Ashley Casey led the Bridgewater offense with 12 kills and a .611 attack percentage, as Jessica Bissmeyer and Lauren Nofsinger each added nine of their own. Grace Hayes was the main setter for the Eagles, amassing 36 assists, and Grace Williams was the team leader in digs with 12.

For Ferrum, Saryn Pennell put together her best performance of her Panther career with 10 kills. On the defensive half, Arielle Tritt collected 11 digs and Waltrip recorded nine of her own to go along with 17 assists. Pennell and M'Kayla McBride each recorded two block assists at the net to round out the Panther effort. 

UP NEXT
Head Coach Ruthanne Duffy's team will be back in action Wednesday, September 29, as the Panthers hit the road to Greensboro, N.C. to take on Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Guilford College. The action is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
