DANVILLE, Virginia -- Ferrum College's men's wrestling team suffered a non-conference loss to Averett University tonight on the road, falling 35-3 at the Grant Center.

THE BASICS
Averett grabbed the early lead and extended it to a 32-0 margin after the first eight matches. Ferrum avoided the shutout when Braden Homsey earned a technical fall over Averett's William Baldwin, posting a 16-1 score in the 197-pound weight class.

The Panthers closed out the night by winning three exhibition matches, with Hayden Funck, Anthony Gaskin and Trent Ray winning at 149 pounds, 157 pounds and 285 pounds, respectvely. Ray scored a takedown in overtime to secure a 6-4 win.
